Artist Statement 

Captivated by the mysteries of consciousness, the divine, and the collective need for emotional and spiritual intelligence, Emma Benitez explores the intricate tapestries that unite all existence.

These sacred patterns are seen in the dance of dividing cells, the blooming of flowers, the celestial choreography of birthing universes, and are symbolically embraced by religions and ancient civilizations worldwide.

Benitez’s paintings serve as meditations and navigations through the labyrinth of their own human experience, piecing together the puzzles of duality, embracing discomfort, and eventually letting go. They surrender to and play with the concepts of order and chaos, pondering the enigma of mortality and the infinite nature of the spirit. Each painting is a celebration of life’s complexities and beauties, an understanding of divine order, and a prayer for a harmonious and sustainable world for future generations.

The process is compared to life itself, with the finished product remaining unknown and flowing effortlessly when truly listened to. Each brushstroke is an anchor point into the present moment, revealing the next stages like steppingstones. Her hope is that these works spark a remembrance of the sacred thread that binds us all, and that in listening deeply to that truth, we may each play our part in weaving a world rooted in reverence and care  to ourselves and each other.
